How it Works

Deep Planner is a forecasting and planning engine that instantly shows when your product goals can realistically ship, based on your real team capacity. Think about it as a navigation panel on a ship that allows for captain to oversee the full route and for teams to figure out the immediate work they need to do to reach next miles towards the destination.

Example

Goal: given list of features, create a delivery forecast

You define:

  • What you want to build (Epics & estimates)
  • Who will build it (Teams, roles & capacity)

Deep Planner calculates the forecast in seconds:

  • When each epic can ship
  • What will delay delivery
  • How trade-offs affect timelines

The Technology Behind Forecasting

Deep Planner is not a static Gantt chart. It is a constraint-based planning engine.

The roadmap builder is using advanced and unique technology that helps build and save realistic and continuously updated forecasts.

  1. Finding the most efficient path for value delivery by using combinatorial optimizations, to provide quality high-level expectations for clients and teams
  2. Filtering combinations by dependencies, resolving mismatches between nature of work and team specializations, and obeying to teams’ capacity limits by using constraint satisfaction model, to prevent impossible plans, teams’ overload and misalignment
  3. Compression mechanisms to manage risk and choose between slow and rapid styles of execution. Compression is implemented on task level and defines if task activities will be done sequentially or concurrently.
  4. Resilience to change balances adaptability with stability by freezing tasks that are delayed or in progress and requiring explicit rescheduling before recalculating the plan.
